High Level Business Delegations from Japan visit Sri City

Chennai, September 11, 2015: – Two senior level business delegations from Japan visited Sri City. They include members of  Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute (OCDI) and Colombo based Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute (OCDI), Japan

A three member team from the Japanese Overseas Coastal Area Development Institute (OCDI), headed by Mr. Akira Koyama, Executive Director, OCDI visited Sri City. The objective of their visit was to make a survey of coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and identify possible projects for the Japanese companies.

Mr. Ramesh Subramaniam, President, Sri City Foundation received the team and briefed on the origin, development and status of Sri City. They all actively interacted and evinced keen interest in knowing more on various aspects of Sri City. They went round the campus and witnessed the blooming industrial activity. They visited the factory of Kobelco Cranes and witnessed the works.

Japan Chamber of Commerce & Industry at Sri Lanka

A 14 member delegation of Japanese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) based at Colombo, Sri Lanka and Japanese Embassy officials in Sri Lanka visited Sri City. The delegation was led by Dr. Toru Takehara, Chairman of Colombo Dock Yard PLC. Ms. Asako Okai, Dy, Head of Mission, Embassy of Japan at Sri Lanka was the next senior  member of the delegation.  Mrs. Raghini Peter, Senior Vice President, Marketing, Sri City, extended a warm welcome and briefed the visitors on the infrastructure and unique features of Sri City. The visit was coordinated by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Chennai.

The delegates represent a wide spectrum of industries. The purpose of their visit was to have the firsthand information on Sri City and the available infrastructure. They visited the Japanese companies IMOP and Kobelco Cranes and had a close glimpse of the works in progress.

Commenting on the visits of the above delegations,  Mr. Ravindra Sannareddy said, “I feel happy to have the OCDI and JCCI delegation at Sri City, and I am confident, their visit will enhance further the trade relations between India and Japan.”

Both the delegations expressed satisfaction on the available infrastructure at Sri City and its location advantage.  The delegates were totally enchanted with the world-class infrastructure and business friendly atmosphere at Sri City.
