GM India Launches the MY 15 Chevrolet Captiva

Mr. Arvind Saxena, President and Managing Director General Motors India today launched MY 15 Chevrolet Captiva 2.2 premium Sport Utility Vehicle. With additional features, the Model Year 15 Captiva is all set to enthrall the buyers with some exclusive additions to further enrich the driving experience.

The striking Captiva 2.2 is a study of taut automotive dynamism in its design execution. With its boldly contoured hood, aggressive clear-lens projection headlamps and eye-catching signature Chevrolet grille features a prominent Chevrolet bowtie which is sure to turn heads wherever it is driven. The Model Year 15 Captiva comes with additional features like ? new Cluster Ionizer which generates ions to purify and deodorize cabin interiors and ?new Instrument Cluster for improved visibility among other attributes. It will continue to be offered both in manual (MT) and automatic (AT) versions. The ex-showroom Delhi price of MT will be Rs. 25,13,528/- and AT Rs. 27,36,192/-
The Captiva 2.2 comes across as both rugged and sophisticated. Bold wheel arches, 235/65 R 17 tyres mounted on alloy wheels and a sharp feature line across the length of the Captiva add to the masculinity of its stance, while subtle chrome highlights and a bold coupe-style rear window treatment add grace to the overall visual package.
The Captiva’s strong rear design is dominated by a large tailgate and stylish vertical LED tail lamps with indicators and reversing lamps contained in circular elements. Below, the chrome tipped twin exhaust complement the Captiva’s sporty looks.
The Captiva 2.2 includes a powerful 2.2-liter engine that delivers 186.5bhp @ 3800 RPM and 400 Nm @ 2000 RPM torque along with an option of six-speed automatic transmission with All Wheel Drive (AWD) system besides the manual transmission variant.
The Captiva has been designed to maximize space. The 5 + 2 Flexi Seating arrangement can comfortably accommodate seven adults and can be transformed into an adaptable luggage carrier in a flash. Its unique, fold-flat seating arrangement provides up to 1,565 liters of cargo volume. The new Captiva 2.2 has a fresh new sporty and muscular exterior design and premium jet-black interiors.
Practicality has also been accorded priority. Among the new comfort and convenience amenities are cruise control; third-row heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system; an electric parking brake; rain-sensing wipers; and a stylish sunroof. The Captiva incorporates comfort features such as a dual zone AC, and new feature addition of Cluster Ionizer along with a new Instrument Cluster and many thoughtful storage solutions, including a large wet/dry area beneath the load compartment floor, an illuminated glove box, a deep Centre console bin, a rear centre console storage area and handy door bins.
Other convenience features include bottle holders, small item/coin and cup holders, a parking ticket holder, seat-back pockets and a dual-compartment sliding driver’s armrest. The Captiva also features three 12-volt power outlets that are accessible to all passengers.
The Captiva’s all-leather seating and matching cabin exude total luxury, while an integrated 2-DIN CD/MP3 player with six speakers provides an extremely pleasurable listening experience. Tinted automatic windows, power mirrors, an eight-way power adjustable driver seat and an electronic climate control system are all standard.
Our engineers have made safety a priority in the Captiva 2.2. 6 Airbags – Driver and front passenger airbags, Seat side and Roof side Airbags, front seatbelt pre-tensioners and load limiters, and height-adjustable front seatbelts come standard. The Captiva’s four-channel ABS with brake assist-equipped discs, provides optimum pedal pressure when it detects an emergency braking situation. The rigid high-strength body shell of the Captiva has been optimized to distribute crash forces over defined load paths to help protect the integrity of the passenger safety cell.
As a result of a concerted development effort, the Chevrolet Captiva has been configured to tackle Indian roads, with completely optimized ride and handling characteristics. The result is a comfortable and stable vehicle that can easily take on varying local driving conditions.
Despite its SUV pedigree, the Captiva is ideal for the urban commute. Its trim exterior proportions ensure class-leading manoeuvrability in everyday driving conditions. The power steering system has been tuned for quick response, precise road feel and optimum driver feedback. The Captiva features a four-link independent rear suspension system and MacPherson struts up front. Suspension settings have been carefully calibrated to deliver car-like ride and handling even on imperfect road surfaces.
A unique feature of the Captiva is a level ride suspension system, which automatically maintains nominal ride height under differing load conditions – a feature that offers assured road clearance as well as optimal ride quality for passengers.
